About Haparanda and the Lundmark family

Haparanda is the culmination of many years work for the Lundmark family. Originally 45 feet in length, Lex Lundmark and his fiancé Jill sailed her from Melbourne to Auckland in 1969. She became a life-long passion for Lex, who continued to work on the yacht over a period of almost 25 years,  improving the engineering and layout and extending her length to transform her into a 70 foot schooner. He died before the work was finished, so it fell upon his son John to complete the work.

Much photographed and admired by tourists and sailing enthusiasts alike, Haparanda is surely one of the most elegant yachts in the Auckland viaduct; a dream to sail and a joy to behold.
